When I ask people where do you think is the second largest city in Japan, many people reply “Osaka!” But actually, Yokohama is the second largest city in Japan. (Even Japanese people get this question wrong often.) Yes, population wise, Yokohama is larger than Osaka.
Yokohama is a nice city not far from Tokyo. This is one of the reason why Yokohama grew so much. Many people commute to Tokyo area. From Yokohama, it takes less than 30 min. to Tokyo or Shibuya station. Yokohama is a port city and also has the largest China town in Japan. There is a old city of Kamakura near by. So it is a popular destination for Japanese people.
