Yokohama is the second largest city in Japan after Tokyo. It is close to Tokyo (about 30 minutes from Shibuya) It is nice area to enjoy shopping, activities and enjoy food.
History of Yokohama
Yokohama was a small village until it opened as one of 5 international ports in 1859. Before that, Japan was closed from rest of the world. Shogun first decided to close the country in 17C. During this period, exremely small part of Nagasaki was the only port foreigners could stay. Yokohama grew quickly as the port city.
Today, Yokohama is both industrial and commercial center. Since Yokohama is close to Tokyo, many people commute to Tokyo. Access is good: If you take the express train from Shibuya, it is only 30 minutes. (JR Shonan Shinjuku line or Tokyu Toyoko line Commuter Express)

Scarf-Yokohama is famous for silk because silk was one of the main export.
Model Course
On fine day, you can enjoy outside such as China Town, port area, amusement park, and walking around red brick warehouse and old downtown area.
On Rainy/ hot/ cold day, you can use public transportation to Yokohama Station area and/or Minato Mirai area. Within the same area, you can stay indoors.
